Florida Federal Contracting

Federal contracting advice, from the Florida side of the table

GovPointe works from St. Petersburg with former federal acquisition officials on the bench. We help Tampa Bay and Florida firms register, position, and compete for federal work, and we serve contractors nationwide.

The Home Market

Why Florida is a federal market

You do not have to sell to Washington from a distance. The federal government is already here, in force.

MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa

Headquarters of both U.S. Special Operations Command and U.S. Central Command.

VA healthcare, statewide

One of the country's largest VA healthcare footprints, including Bay Pines and the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital.

NASA's Kennedy Space Center

The launch and processing complex on the Space Coast, with a dense contractor base around it.

Eglin Air Force Base

Air Force research, development, test, and evaluation in the Panhandle.

Naval Air Station Jacksonville

A major Navy installation anchoring the First Coast.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District

Civil works and construction contracting across Florida and the Caribbean.

Every one of those installations is surrounded by buying offices, and each buys differently. We will not quote a spending figure that goes stale the week it is published;the state spending profile is public on USAspending.gov. What we add is the reading of it: which offices buy what you sell, and how they prefer to order.

Before You Pay Anyone

The free help, honestly listed

Two organizations will counsel Florida businesses at no cost. You should know about both, and we would rather tell you ourselves.

Use them. Counselors at both are capable people doing useful work, and a first stop there costs you nothing. What an advisory firm adds is different in kind, not just in hours:

  • Buying-side experience.Advisors who spent 20+ year careers awarding and overseeing federal contracts, not summarizing them.
  • Done-for-you execution.Counselors explain how to build a capability statement or a market research report. We build it.
  • Market research depth.Agency-by-agency analysis of who buys what you sell, at a depth a counseling hour cannot reach.
The Advisory Bench

The bench

The advice on this page is only worth what the people behind it have done.

William Randolph, Retired Senior Procurement Official, spent 26 years in federal acquisition and served as a Head of Contracting Activity and Senior Executive Service member at the Department of Homeland Security. The rest of the bench spent 20+ year careers as contracting officers and source selection officials, awarding and overseeing the kinds of contracts our clients compete for.

Questions

Working with a Florida firm

Do you only work with Florida companies?
No. Federal contracting is a national market and most of our work happens over video calls and shared documents. The office is local; the practice is not. Florida firms get the option of meeting in person, and clients in other states lose nothing.
Can we meet in person?
Yes, by appointment at our St. Petersburg office at 7901 4th Street N., Suite 300. Book a consultation first so the right advisor is in the room when you arrive.
Do you help with Florida state and local contracts too?
Our opportunity monitoring services cover state and local solicitations alongside federal ones. Our advisory focus is federal: that is where the bench spent their careers and where their judgment is worth paying for.
What does a first conversation cost?
Nothing. The first consultation is free and ends with a recommended next step, even when that step is not hiring us.
Where exactly are you located?
7901 4th Street N., Suite 300, St. Petersburg, Florida 33702. Phone: (727) 614-8844.
